Administrative / Biographical History

The Caernarfonshire War Agricultural Executive Committee was formed in early 1917 partially from the county's Agricultural Sub-Committee and partially by nominees from the Board of Agriculture. The first task of the Committee was to increase the acreages of potatoes and corn grown in the county. By 1919, the emphasis had shifted to re-training disabled soldiers. By the following year, the body had been turned into a county agricultural committee, with responsibility for smallholdings, diseases of animals and the agricultural training service.
