Male and Female Chinese Dolls, as gifted by Gladys Aylward to friends

Scope and Content

Comprises two items: a Chinese female doll; and a Chinese male doll - both of which were made in Sian, Shensi Province. Note that it was Gladys Aylward's custom to give dolls and other Chinese accessories as gifts to fundraisers.

Administrative / Biographical History

These Chinese dolls, along with others, were brought back to the UK by Gladys Aylward whilst visiting friends. She brought the collection of dolls as samples to sell in aid of fundraising.
