The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) was founded in London on the 6th of June, 1844 by George Williams. The association aims to promote Christian values by encouraging members to develop a healthy "body, mind, and spirit." The collection held by West Dunbartonshire relates to the Dumbarton branch of the YMCA.
