Scope and Content

  • /1 Letter from Turner to Bardsley, 25 October1833, congratulating him on his presidency at 'our highly delightful and scientific dinner' [at Manchester School of Medicine]. Turner goes on, 'If our School has not now established the character of being a seminary of science, and an honor [sic] to the town, all future attempts to do so must be fruitless'. This letter has been taken from James Bardsley's letter book and has part of a newspaper cutting on the reverse.

  • /5 Letter from Turner to [D.J.] Leech, 25 Oct [187-?] regarding the Bishop presiding at an introductory lecture [probably run by the Manchester and Salford Sanitary Association] and arrangements for the lecture. Turner also comments, 'you will see in the paper today that it is doubtful as to the appointment of an analyst for Manchester'.
