Alizarine Convention Documents

Scope and Content

The Alizarine Convention was established in 1881, and included one British firm (Burt, Boulton and Haywood) and several German firms including BASF, Bayer, Hoechst and Gauke. When Burt Boulton were bought out and British Alizarine established, the latter firm left the Convention, which collapsed in 1885. A second Alizarine Convention was established in 1900 and lasted until 1914.
