Scope and Content

Settlement prior to the marriage between John Pigott esq, of Abington Pigotts, Cambridgeshire, and Frances Chester, daughter of Sir Robert Chester of Royston, Hertfordshire. In consideration of #1,000 paid to him by Chester, Pigott settles various properties in Abington Pigotts (alias Abington juxta Shingay), Littlington, Steeple Morden and Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire, on his bride-to-be as her jointure, and in provision for their children. Some properties are leased to Chester and his two sons Robert and Granado in trust to provide for daughters' marriages. Indenture, unsigned, two seals wanting, witnessed by Edward Chester, Henry Chester, and by two others unidentified. Endorsed with certificate of enrolment in Chancery, dated 5 May 17 Charles II.
