Administrative / Biographical History

The National Theatre Building Sub-Committee was appointed early in 1946, in connection with the creation of the Joint Council of the National Theatre and the Old Vic. The remit of this Sub-Committee was to negotiate with the London County Council and other stakeholders in connection with the erection of the National Theatre, and to bring forward the plans for the building of the theatre.
