Scope and Content

- 'Memorandum on the Shakespeare Memorial National Theatre Scheme', unsigned; the author of the memorandum relates his or her views on the National Theatre project, covering aspects such as the difficulty of raising the required sum and the relationship between a theatre and an architectural memorial, and includes the suggestion that an acting company may be founded first, to perform in an exisitng London theatre, and establish its reputation before the National Theatre is built [after 1905, possibly ca. 1922].

- Piece of paper, cut from a larger sheet, with handwritten text of motion by George Bernard Shaw, highlighting the gratitude of the Shakespeare Memorial Committee to King's College for providing a postal address and meeting space for the Committee over many years [ca. before 1930].


This material could not be associated with a specific meeting date; it has therefore been placed in this sub-series with the papers of the General Committee as it relates generally to the work of the Movement.
