Committee to investigate purchase of existing London theatre

Scope and Content

Report of the Sub-Committee appointed to investigate the possibilities for the purchase of a London theatre. The report reccomends that the means at the disposal of the Committee did not allow for the purchase of an exising theatre, and part-ownership in cooperation with another body would be a more feasible option.

Administrative / Biographical History

This Committee was appointed around Dec. 1920 - early 1921, to consider options for the acquisition of an existing London Theatre for the National Theatre, as an alternative to erecting a new building on a purchased site.
