Custodial History

The papers of the Yates family passed to the Buxtons in 1761 when John Buxton was granted the administration of the will of Robert Yates. The papers of the Willmott, Rutler and Chillingworth families passed to the Buxtons as a result of the marriage of Harry John Buxton to Hannah, daughter of Henry Wilmott (d. 1812), of whose daughters Mary married Thomas Chillingworth and Elizabeth married John Rutler. The papers of the Bunce family passed to the Buxtons by the marriage of Harry Willmott Buxton to Annie Letitia Bunce.
