File SZ/TF/6, Correspondence, 1978-1985, contains files of correspondence with C.S. (Kit) Aston, and Mrs M.M. Pardoe, 1978-1980; Christopher Dadd, 1978-1983; Peter N. Gerosa, 1984; T.J. Gilligan, 1983-85; Henry J. Heinz II, 1979-1981; Lord Netherthorpe, 1982; the Duke of Northumberland, 1978; Petronelle Reynolds, 1979-1980; the Marquess of Townshend, 1981; and J.A. Turner, 1980. Most of the correspondence is with officers and trustees of the Foundation, that with Christopher Dadd, Director of the Tree Council, being the most extensive.

File SZ/TF/7, Documents relating to Fund-raising, 1979-1980, consists chiefly of lists of donors and organisations or persons who might be approached for donations.

File SZ/TF/8 Publications, 1979-1983, consists largely of printed promotional and fund-raising literature, news-letters, and press releases but also contains copies of a report Trees, Landscape, Conservation, 1983 by Derek Lovejoy, former Director of the Tree Council.

The Tree Foundation was set up in 1978 to complement the work of the Tree Council, specifically by raising funds to support the work of the Council. The Tree Council had been established in 1974 and is perhaps best known for the annual National Tree Week that it organises. The Tree Foundation was short-lived, being wound up in 1984. Solly Zuckerman became a trustee in 1978 and was an assiduous fund-raiser.
