Administrative / Biographical History

Plas Tregayan in Anglesey was acquired by Richard Edmunds, rector of Aber, Caernarfonshire, and son of John Edmunds, agent of the Penrhyn Castle estate, following his marriage to Ann Prytherch, possibly in 1725. The estate was inherited by their daughter Margaret, who married Robert Lloyd of Gwynus, Caernarfonshire, (d. 1793). Their grand-daughter, Margaret Hooper Lloyd (1790-1858), married Captain Thomas Jones-Parry (1784-1845) of Llwyn Onn, Denbighshire, and Aberdunant, Caernarfonshire. Thomas and Margaret's eldest surviving son, Robert Lloyd Jones-Parry (1816-1870), inherited the Aberdunant estate. Robert's son, Thomas Edward John Lloyd (b. 1856), also inherited the property of his great-grandfather, Vice Admiral Robert Lloyd of Tregayan, Anglesey. Thomas assumed the name of Lloyd on succeeding to the Tregayan estate. Captain Thomas Jones-Parry's younger son, William Jones-Parry, inherited the Plas-yn-Ial estate, Denbighshire, and assumed the surname Parry-Yale.
