LETTER: Rev. R. Owen, Bryncoch, Bryneglwys, Corwen, to Mrs Yale, Gorphwysfa, Bath explaining that his living is only worth £75 or £77 and that his superiors suggested that he appeal to property owners in the parish for benefactions and whatever money he succeeded in collecting the Ecclesiastical Commissioners would meet with an equal sum which would then be invested for the permanent augmentation of the living. He adds that Mrs Mainwaring of Galltfaenau has given £300 and points out that until now the vicars of Bryneglwys had always been pluralists. With REPLY dated 25th March in which Mrs Yale regrets that she is unable to contribute having been much impoverished in defending herself against unjust demands. However she assures him of her interest in the welfare of the people of the parish and wishes him well in his undertaking to rescue them from the advance of Dissent and Radicalism which are "twin brothers of evil in our church".
