Scope and Content

PROBATE OF WILL dated 28th Nov. 1839 of Robert Lloyd of Tregayan co. Anglesey, esq. and Admiral in H.M. Royal Navy and codicil dated 28th Nov. 1839 and 4 codicils dated 26th May 1840, 15th Dec, 1841, 17th May 1845 and 30th Dec. 1845. In default of issue his estates ar to go to his grandson, Robert Lloyd Jones Parry, son of Thomas Parry Jones Parry of Llwynon co. Denbigh who is to live at Tregayan for 2 months in the year and take the surname of Lloyd. His wife Ellen is to receive an annuity of £400 and any children £1,000 on reaching the age of majority. Subsidiary bequests : £24 annuity to his housekeeper, £40 to his coachman and servant, £5 each to the footman, gardener, farm steward, cook and housemaid. Executrix : his wife Ellen, Trustees : Hamilton Alder Roberts of Bangor co. Carnarvon esq., and Hugh Jones of Beaumaris perpetual curate of Llanfaes and Beaumaris, clerk. Codicil dated 26th May 1840 revokes the life annuity of £24 granted to his housekeeper because of the underhand manner in which she left his service. It also grants a life interest in the estates to his wife Ellen. Codicil dated 15th Dec. 1841 revokes clauses granting the sum of £1,800 allocated for the education of his child Ann Lloyd, and also suspends the requirement that his wife lives at Tregayan while Emma Meyrick of Menai Cottage his sister-in-law is alive. His grandson Robert Lloyd Jones Parry is to receive £500 stock. Codicil dated 17th May 1845 revokes the gift of £500 stock granted to his grandson Robert Lloyd Jones Parry. He forbids his wife Ellen to entertain at Tregayan John Read esq., late Captain in the army, of Dublin, her brother-in-law and his wife for longer than a week and for every day beyond a week his wife is to pay 5s. to the Overseers of the Poor, pa. Tregayan. He make gifts of stock to his grandchildren, to his reputed natural child, Anne Owen, an apprentice to Miss Lester, a milliner, Manchester and to his greatgrandchildren. Codicil dated 30th Dec. 1845 granting the rents from land or rock called Gwylfyr, pa. Pistyll and Nevin, co. Carnarvon leased to Samuel Holland Esq, of Port Madoc for the purpose of quarrying to his wife.
