Scope and Content

PROBATE COPY OF WILL dated 4th August 1896 and Codicil dated 13th Dec. 1898 of the Rgt. Hon. Henry Edward John Baron Stanley of Alderley. The main beneficiaries are his wife, Fabia Lady Stanley, who is guaranteed an annual income of £2,500, and also the Presaddfed estate, co. Anglesey with an annual charge of £500 thereon to be paid to the holder of the Grafton Hall Estate and after her death to his nephew Arthur Lyulph Stanley. His brother, Edward Lyulph Stanley is to enjoy a life interest in the hosue and estate at Alderley Park, co. Chester; Geoffrey Egerton Warburton, son of Piers Egerton Warburton of Arley Hall Northwich is to have Grafton Hall, Tilston and Horton, co. Chester, the advowson and patronage of Guilden Sutton, co. Chester and ground rents in the City of Chester; his nephew Arthur Lyulph Stanley is to receive the estate of Penrhos Bradwen adjoining Penrhos Holyhead and the advowson of Llanddona. The Codicil revokes the clauses dealing with the Presaddfed Estate which is devised to Frederick Marriner Aston of 23 Surrey Street, Strand, solicitor and after his death to the eldest child of his nephew William Augustus Lane Fox Pitt of the Grenadier Guards, son of his sister Alice Margaret. Executors and Trustees: Robert Manners Williams in the Office of the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England, esq., Theodore Julius Hare of Booden Liphook, co. Hants. esq., and John Mitford of 81, Cambridge Terrace, Paddington and of the General Post Office.
