In which he comments on her account of their mother's illness and the affairs at Brighton. Of the latter the only encouraging thing is that she thinks Margaret's health decidedly better, though she is greatly weighed down by her responsibilities. Asks P. to keep on with the good work in spite of discouragements. He is now a member of the Indian Defence Forces. Has to go to Simla that night for a meeting of Chief Engineers. Quite unnecessary.
