Just arrived and living in the top floor of one of the two storeyed houses built for the Carriage Wagon foreman. The place will be very nice when cleared up; work more interesting but the number of urgent jobs is terrific. A complete new estate is being laid out which includes a new station, complete alteration of the lines and a new bridge over the railway. There is indeed 'a charming variety about the Howrah New Works'. Also easy access to Calcutta and he generally goes in on Saturday evening and stays Sunday wit the George Huddlestons. Sent from Lillooah.
