Fry writing from St Tropez. Has had perpetual summer weather in which one could paint out of doors all the daylight hours except those one spent bathing. But now sudden winter with howling gales so it's become the time for still-lifes, writing letters etc. He has a very nice little house there. Vanessa and Duncan are settled in their palatial villa up the hill. Had a trip into Italy and picked up Pamela from London. He is painting very hard. Had she seen his father's Life; it is 'the purest quintessence of Victorianism'. Envelope present.
