Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Coventry Trades and Labour Hall Fund was established in 1919 to acquire a meeting venue for the Coventry labour movement. In 1944 it was merged with the Tom Mann Memorial Fund, which was named after the Coventry-born trade union and communist leader. In August 1946 it was used to purchase two houses and an adjoining hall in Stoke Green in which a trade unionists' club was inaugurated in July 1947. The Tom Mann Club was sold by the trustees in 2001.
