A collection of correspondence, diary extracts, photographs and other useful material collected by A. C. Hughes while researching his book 'Mametz : Lloyd George's 'Welsh Army' at the Battle of the Somme', first published in 1976. In 1974, Hughes placed advertisements in local papers requesting contact from those with memories of the fighting at Mametz, and received a large number of replies, collected here.
