Note on title-page in Janey Drysdale's hand: 'Found among Johnnie's papers. He was to have written the music for this, but I've discovered none except the first chorus, which is among the part songs I sent you. It is very original & very pretty, I think - J.C.D. I don't know what became of the 2nd act.'
Additional note in H.G. Farmer's hand arrowed to 'Johnnie's': 'Learmont Drysdale. Lucy Carr Shaw called him Johnnie.'
