Thanks for letter of 30 December. Feared Miss Schlesinger might hurl thunderbolt at his lecture to R.M.A. Agrees with Farmer that harmonia stronger with Oriental than Occidental. Thanks for revised view on tarkibat. Regarding pedal technique of kanuni who gives him lessons in Istanbul. Regarding modal structure in Anatolian music. Asks if Belaiev and Uspenski can be reached by post. Looking forward to James Clark being resident in Cambridge.
