Extensive collection of handwritten letters from Leonard Sheldrake to his wife Pearl Sheldrake, and other members of his immediate family. Includes three typescript letters and 3 telegrams. Also included is a handwritten note in a child's hand to 'Dear Daddy' from 'Your son, Leonard'.
There is a copy of Words of Love, 27 Jul 1952 containing an obituary of Sheldrake by 'Ruth S.', a photocopy of a photograph [from a newspaper?] with Sheldrake and others during the 'Kentucky flood disaster, 1937'. There are printed memorial cards for Samuel Kauffman (d. 16 Jun 1941), Albert Edward Bennett (d. 18 Apr 1940), Margaret Brodie Johnson (d. 27 Jan 1942), Mrs. Leonard Sheldrake (d. 5 Mar 1966), and a printed notice for '55th Annual Conference of Christians' held in Kansas City on 14 and 15 Nov 1942.
As well as family and personal matters, the letters contain detailed accounts of Sheldrake's travels and his evangelical activities, with reflections on the success or otherwise of their meetings. He also occasionally reflects on items in the local and national news and political developments of the time.
