Aston Rowant is situated 20 miles south east of Oxford. The parish also includes records for St John's Chapel, Kingston Blount.
The records were originally deposited in the Bodleian Library by Mr JD Power, churchwarden of Aston Rowant in 1962. Further deposits were made in 1970, 1974 (Acc 1113) and 1982. The material was then transferred to the Oxfordshire Record Office. Further records were deposited as Acc 5095 in February 2003 and Acc 5442 in September 2005. One item (acc 446) was added in July 2023.
