Administrative / Biographical History
The Council of the Royal Architectural Museum regarded the description and promotion of its collections as of great importance for the furtherance of its aims of improving the standards of contemporary art-workmanship. Consequently the office of 'Official Photographer to the Museum' was created in the 1850's and committee members were encouraged to contribute financially and intellectually to the publication of catalogues and guides.
Arranged into a series reflecting the curatorial function of the description and promotion of the Museum's collections.
