Scope and Content

Ughtred Kay-Shuttleworth [son]. Letter to Sir James Phillips Kay-Shuttleworth.

Dated at: Eggischorn [Switzerland].

He sends his father a statement about proposals and counter proposals for Cornfld [Cornfield] Farm. He notes that he has given John Crook [farmer] notice to quit. He outlines his reasons and says that he has asked Addie [estate worker] for a valuation. He tells his father that a problem has arisen with the Loc[al] Gov[erment] Board over Gawthorpe boundaries, despite the fact that the Padiham Committee supports him. He sends other estate news, including a note that work on Brookfoot farm-house has begun.
