Costume designs for La Morte del Dottor Faust

Scope and Content

Includes 10 designs marked 'Teatro degli Indipendenti' or 'Teatro Bragaglia'. These are designs for a production of La Morte del Dottor Faust by Michel de Ghelderode, adapted by Anton Bragaglia and performed at Bragaglia's Teatro Sperimentale degli Indipendenti in 1928, where MBH worked in 1928 and 1930. In her letters to her former art teacher Franz Cižek (see (MBH 2/1) she wrote in 1928 that she was flown to Rome by the theatre company to do the designs for the theatre, that it was a lot of work and that she was holding an exhibition of theatre and dance costumes in the foyer of the theatre. Previously in MBH/File 30.
