Scope and Content

(mainly [c. 1775]-1917). The Owen family were resident in Denbigh, Denbighshire, and came into possession of the Abbey estate, Henllan, Denbighshire, during the 19th century. They also married into the Purchas family and had interests in Winton, in Barton-upon-Irwell, Lancashire.

Scope and content: Deeds and documents of the Abbey estate, 1776-1917, in Henllan, Denbigh, and elsewhere in Denbighshire; deeds relating to Winton, in Barton-upon-Irwell, Lancashire, 1846-1873; newspapers, 1790-1898; scrapbooks and albums containing newspaper cuttings, recipes, poetry and other material of Denbighshire interest, [c. 1775]-1894; photographs of the Owen and Purchas families and views of Denbighshire and elsewhere, [c. 1869]- [c. 1900]; and Denbigh Castle guidebook, 1973.
