The British union-catalogue of early music printed before the year 1801, ed. Edith B. Schnapper (London: Butterworth Scientific Publications, 1957) lists "The Sun his gladsome beams withdrawn", composed by H. Brewster and Sung by Mr Vernon in Vaux-hall (London: M. Whitaker, [c.1775]). The Catalogue of printed music in the British Library to 1980 (London: K. G. Saur, 1981) also lists an anonymous setting (using "gladsome" in the text), dated [1765?].
