George Frideric Handel, Ormisda [aria]

Scope and Content

Händel-Werke-Verzeichnis A3/25a? "Song in Armisda-sung by Signora Strada". Incipit: "Amico il fato mi guida in porto". Anonymous in this source. Possibly the missing aria from G. F. Handel's pasticcio, "Ormisda" (London, 1730), originally written by D. Sarri for his Siroe Re di Persia (Naples, 1727). Anna Maria Strada del Pò sung the role of Artenice, for whom the aria was intended, in the London opera.
