Scope and Content

"ARMINIO / DRAMA per MUSICA / da rappresentarsi / Nel Teatro / della / REGIA ELETTORAL. / CORTE / di Dresda / nell' / Carnevale"

Score. Hasse's Arminio, set to a text by G. C. Pasquini, was first performed at the Dresden court on 7 October 1745. From the title-page, it would seem that this score is from the 8 January 1753 revival, also at Dresden. "Sigr: Hasse", f. 1v. No recitatives. The final terzetto and chorus are lacking in the manuscript. Where the instrumental forces are supplied, 'bc' is 'Basso' (unfigured) in the manuscript unless otherwise indicated. The other instruments are sometimes supplied; string specifications in the catalogue entries are usually conjectural. Singers are named. Casing: green-gold paper. 8-stave MS paper for Sinfonia and terzetto, 10-stave for remainder. In four (mainly two hands. Some gatherings are numbered. In poor condition. Rebound by Glamorgan Archives in 2005. Handwritten incipits are from Cardiff University. Concordance: D-D1. Information derived from this concordance, supplied by Roland Dieter Schmidt, is supplied in the Notes field for each entry, in square brackets.
