Scope and Content

From [Sarah Gwynne] to Charles Wesley, thanking God for the blessings which Charles's ministry have already brought her.

Her mother's opinions re their proposed marriage are given in detail, with particular emphasis on the terms of the marriage settlement. Mother is going abroad next week for several weeks and Charles and his brother should therefore come as soon as possible. Rebecca [Gwynne] is sure that ll athe obstacles can be removed once the Wesley brothers arrive. She has been a very faithful friend throughout this affair.

Mother has decided to write to Charles herself. Sarah is afraid that at the thought of her marriage to Charles 'the happiness seems too great'. Mr P [Perronet?] that 'worthy gentleman' has written a very pleasing letter.

Her love should be passed to John Wesley. Was Mr Dunstone the brilliant young man referred to by Charles? - only eighteen years old and already a brilliant preacher.

She should be remembered to her dear friends at Lewisham, Newington Green and Shoreham.

The hymns that he sent were read with great pleasure.

Charles should write to mother by the next post. The weather has prevented her departure for some weeks now.

Mr Philips is very sick with 'cholic and fever'. John Wesley's letter was passed to him, while Sarah delivered Charles's to Mr Thomas.
