Scope and Content

From Sarah Crosby at Cross Hall, Yorkshire, to Mrs Foster, Grocer of Nun's Green, Derby. Reference is made to [John] Hampson forwarding Crosby's correspondence, after her return from a preaching tour.

Foster will no doubt have heard from Mrs Killer, as to how they went on until Wednesday morning. Crosby reached Wakefield at 11.30 after a comfortable ride 'with a very civil gent:man, & a carefull sober driver, with whom I had some coversn. He told me "A fine man preached at Wakefd yesterday morn at 5. They called him Mr Wesley."

She boarded a chaise in Wakefield and arrived at Cross Hall at one, where she was greeted by friends. After a comfortable afternoon she rode in Mr W's [John Wesley] chaise with two companions to hear Wesley preach at Morley. Wesley himself walked, even though two chaises as well as his own made the journey. His text was from 3 Phil. He left at six on Thursday morning in order to fill a preaching appointment nine miles away at nine o'clock. Crosby herself rose at five, but was feeling ill all day. She is somewhat better, but is not yet fully recovered.

Her love should be given to those who meet in the band.

She has not yet been able to meet with Mr Hallily.

Next Saturday she hopes to be at Dow Green at the same time of Wesley's visit.

Her love should be given to Mrs Hampson, Mrs Bradley, and Mrs Mukden[?].
