Scope and Content

From Dr John Worgan in Rathbone Place, [London], to Charles Wesley in Bristol. The christmas holidays have given him the opportunity to write.

He hopes that Charles junior 'increases in knowledge & ability in execution, & likewise that he has begun the violin. I trust that my friend Samuel if he's in health, is as pomposo as ever, more especially in the impulse he received from Great Handel's music'.

Worgan is sorry to have to inform Charles junior that he has been unsuccessful in getting permission to give him that Lepon(?) of [Alessandro] Scarlatti, but he has others as good.

When does Charles senior come to London? Does he come at all?

Mrs Worgan has been ill with an asthmatic cough, but is somewhat better.
