Administrative / Biographical History

The Richardson family owned estates in Swansea and Carmarthenshire during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. John Crow Richardson (b.1810) was the son of John Richardson, of Swansea and Whitby Lodge, Northumberland. He married Elizabeth Walters of Swansea in 1837. John Crow Richardson married again in 1848, to Eliza Fletcher of Crawford, Lanarkshire, Scotland (d.1905). In 1860 he purchased the Pantygwydyr estate in Swansea. His son by his first marriage, also John Crow Richardson (1842-1903) married Theresa Eden Pearce Serocold and they had several children, including Alfred John (d.1887), Ernald Edward (d.1909) and Robert Eden Richardson. Ernald Edward Richardson and his wife Irene Caroline (d.1937) lived at Glanbrydan Park, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. The Glanbrydan estate was bought by the Richardson family some time before 1873. It was advertised for sale in 1936. Ernald Wilbraham Alfred Richardson (b.1900), son of Ernald Edward Richardson owned property in West Sussex during the mid 20th century.
