Correspondence between John Swire & Sons London, and Hong Kong and Shanghai covering routine business matters, focussing on the following areas in particular: blockade in Amoy [Xiamen], bills of lading, de La Rama Lines, matters affecting business in Japan, Ocean Steamship Company, trade in Shanghai, deposits and charges in Tientsin [Tianjin]. Includes subject index. Papers also include a file of correspondence between John Swire & Sons London and the Anglo-Saxon Petrolem Company regarding problems with the Shanghai watchmen.


Letters are arranged chronologically by sending office and are in two files, January-June (Box A) and July to December (Box B)
