This is an incomplete correspondence series between John Swire & Sons as London Managers of the firm and Butterfield & Swire Hong Kong as General Agents in the East. The files are made up on the same pattern as JSSII 2 and the other main 20C series with letters chiefly from and to Hong Kong but with a few from Shanghai. The files are well indexed chronologically with a brief subject synopsis up to 1930 and then by subject alphabetically arranged. The files for 1923-28 appear to have been destroyed, or lost at some time.
