This correspondence series consists of files of letters between John Swire & Sons, London and the office of Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong in their capacity as a major shareholder, dealing with all matters relating to the management and development of the business worldwide. The letters focus in particular on air traffic rights and negotiations with other airlines and Governments regarding air routes, but also cover routine business matters such as finance, maintenance of fleet, publicity and performance, as well as wider issues such as the effects of local political situations. A number of files include monthly management reports and weekly estimates of performance.
