Scope and Content

Letters between John Swire & Sons, Ltd and various companies and individuals. Letters cover routine business matters affecting all aspects of China Navigation Company [CNCo] trade and shipping. In particular the letters focus on Crusader shipping, the schedules of individual vessels, competition from the Port Line, the transfer of CNCo agency work to the New Zealand shipping Company, the possibility of a separate Northbound conference, AUSCON agreement and discussion of Australian trade practices.
