Scope and Content

From K[atherine] Whitmore to Mary Tooth. They arrived home safely, having escaped the bad weather without any injury, other than a partial wetting despite the nice cloaks that Tooth was kind enough to provide. The rain was in their face the entire journey and the poor little donkeys went very slowly. However, the evening that they passed with their Madeley friends was delightful and worth all the discomfort experienced on the journey home.

They hope that Harriet Shadwell was persuaded to attend [Mary] Fletcher's class meeting - Whitmore will explain why when next they meet.

They hope that the enclosed small sum of money 'will assist your kindness for the benefit of the interesting Taylors ...'
