Administrative / Biographical History

Alyn Giles Jones (1928-2000) was former Archivist and Keeper of Manuscripts at the University of Wales, Bangor and acted as archival consultant for various organisations including the Minton china company. He took early retirement from the Archives Department in 1983 but continued to teach on the postgraduate training course in Archives Administration at the University for another 10 years. He died on 26 January 2000 and was survived by his wife Marian. For further biographical details consult the obituary by A.D. Carr in the Journal of the Society of Archivists, Vol. 21, No. 2, 2000.

Material was received on separate occasions, arranged in chronological order and incorporated into the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts .
