Administrative / Biographical History
Caledonia Fabrications was incorporated in October 1965 to provide the Lithgows group of companies with a light fabrication and forging facility. It became a division of Scott Lithgow Ltd , shipbuilders, Greenock, Inverclyde at merger of Lithgows Ltd , shipbuilders and repairers, Greenock, Inverclyde, and Scotts' Shipbuilding and Engineering Co Ltd , Greenock, in 1970. It was formerly a wholly owned subsidiary of Lithgows Ltd .
Nationalised in 1977 as part of British Shipbuilders, the company's business and assets were transferred to Scott Lithgow Ltd in April 1981, as part of British Shipbuilders restructuring programme, and it was dissolved in 1984.
