Correspondence with Thomas Frederick, Mary and Arthur Tout

Scope and Content

Copy letters to Arthur Tout, [son of Thomas Frederick Tout, historian], relating to the provision, at Tout's request, of a picture of Scott, discussion of arrangements for Tout to stay with Scott, and an expression of good wishes on [Tout's] birthday.

Also included is internal correspondence relating to the desire of [Mary] Tout, historian [and wife of Thomas Tout] to publish a letter in The Times about a proposed memorial to Tout. There is a letter to [Ramsay MacDonald], prime minister, with the suggestion of the conferring of an honour to [Mary Tout] as posthumous recognition for Tout's work.

There is also correspondence between Mary Tout and W.P. Crozier, relating to an expression of praise for a tribute given by Crozier to C.P. and E.T. Scott, and also praise of the chapter by Crozier in the biography of C.P. Scott by [J.L.] Hammond, which is acknowledged with thanks.
