Lease (counterpart) for lives of William Smith the elder, Elizabeth Smith, his wife and William Smith the younger, their son, from making hereof, for surrender of former lease of two parcels of land hereafter mentioned and £21, rent 6d yearly, together with one pullet on 1 January yearly or 6d in lieu thereof at election and choice of (i), his heirs or assigns or such person or persons to whom immediate freehold or inheritance of premises shall at such time belong, sum of 20s for and in lieu of heriot upon decease of every tenant dying in possession of these premises, sum of 20s upon every assignment, sale, forfeiture or alienation that shall during said term be made by (ii), their assigns or any or either of them of these premises or of premises hereby demised or of tenancy thereof or of any part or parcel thereof, suit of mill, 18 Aug 1758; (i) George Venables Vernon the younger of Briton Ferry, esquire, to (ii) William Smith of town of Swansea, yeoman, Elizabeth, his wife and William Smith the younger, their son, with (iii) Edward Harris of town of Neath, gentleman, to be (i)’s attorney: Two fields or parcels of pasture or meadow ground called Kae’r Stiggill Wen, otherwise White Stiles, containing by estimation 5 acres in parish of Swansea, in as large and ample manner as said William Smith now holds and enjoys same. (Except and always reserved out of this present demise unto (i), his heirs and assigns and such person or persons to whom immediate freehold or inheritance of premises shall for time being belong liberties and royalties of fishing, fowling, hawking and hunting. And all timber trees, standils and trees likely to become timber and toppings and loppings thereof, all coppices, woods and underwoods and soil thereof and all other woods whatever now growing or being or which at any time or times hereafter shall or may grow or be in and upon said premises hereby described or any part or parcel thereof and also all works, mines, veins and seams of coal and culm, tin, lead, copper and iron and all quarries of stone and slate and all other mines and minerals whatsoever)
