Lease (counterpart), for 99 years, for £126, proportionable part of 2s for every weigh (and so proportionably for lesser quantity than weigh) of coal and culm in and under said premises or any part or parcel thereof that shall be wrought, raised, landed, sold and disposed of, 6d for every weigh (and proportionably for lesser quantity than weigh) of all other coal and culm that shall be wrought and landed in, upon or under lands to eastward of premises hereby demised, three carrier’s bags or sacks of coal weekly unto (i), his heirs and assigns during said term, 29 Nov 1735; (i) Franklin Matthews of town of Swansea, gentleman, (eldest son and heir and also devisee of Thomas Matthews, late of parish of Loughor, gentleman, deceased, his late father, which said Thomas was eldest son and heir and also executor or devisee of Franklin Matthews, late of parish of Loughor, gentleman, his late father long since deceased and grandfather of said Franklin Matthews party to these presents) and Jane, wife of Franklin Matthews, to (ii) Matthew Pryce of Forrest, parish of Llansamlet, esquire: Three eighth parts of him said Franklin Matthews’ (late in partnership with John Pryce, gentleman and Francis Benbow, both since deceased) share of and in coal and coalworks, vein, seam and mine of coal and culm called Great Vein, otherwise called Gwythyen-vawr, already had opened or found or hereafter to be had opened or found in, under or throughout tenements and lands within parish of Llanrhidian now in tenures of John David and John Jeffreys, together with use of level there
