Papers relating to the career of Donald Gordon as a pupil teacher at Gascoigne School and the subsequent training he undertook at Exeter Diocesan Training College (1899-1905), together with further material on the time he spent as a private tutor and then working for the Tata Oil Mills Company in India (1907-1946), including reference letters, examination certificates and medals, as well as photocopies of his birth certificate, marriage certificate and photographs, also accompanied by the original embroidered folder in which this material was found.

Donald Gordon (fl. 1880-1950) trained to be a teacher at Gascoigne School in Barking. He went on to work as a private tutor and then a tea picker in Southern India during the first half of the twentieth century.
