Scope and Content

This collection includes 12 posters, 10 photographs, 1 piece of sheet music for six instruments and a small amount of business records and correspondence relating to the dancing and burlesque comedy on skates.

Administrative / Biographical History

This collection contains a number of items from Variety and Music Halls featuring the skating act of Handby & Celeine. The posters date from 1932 to 1938, and correspondence and contracts from 1938-1939. Handby Celeine were also known as Handby Celeine Trio, The Handby Celeine Four, The Three Skatoris and The Skatoris. They performed in stand-alone comedy, burlesque and skating acts as well as in pantomime. Known addresses in Manchester and London.
