The records are composed of: rules and regulations, probably1847, minutes of meetings, 1847-1855, and at rear, financial data, 1847-1863, at MS 2722; cash ledger, 1916-1938, at MS 2723; cash book, 1916-1939, at MS 2724; cash Book, 1940-1959, at MS 2725; minutes of committee meetings, 1855-1942, at MS 2726; Edinburgh Angling Club, 1848, which is part of a diary, MS 2727; Piscatory Lyrics respectfully dedicated to the Members of the Edinburgh Angling Club, by The Man on the Street, 1852, with some loose folios at the rear, at MS 2728; photograph albums, c.1894-1914, at MSS 2729-2730; and, box containing some photographs, removed from an album and circa 20 copies of leases and correspondence about fishing on the Tweed, 1890s-1960, at MS 2731.

Edinburgh Angling Club appears to have been set up in the mid-1840s. Rules and regulations of the club are written in to a minute book, the first date of which is June 1847.
