Scope and Content

Papers of Edwin Morgan, created and collected over a long, industrious and inventive life. The collection includes nearly 1500 manuscript drafts of poems, and related material including correspondence with his publishers. There is extensive correspondence with other writers. The papers also record his role as educator, critic, translator and reflect his significant role in the cultural life of Scotland.

The papers have been arranged into series, based as far as possible on Morgan's own filing system.

Acquisition Information

Poems and scrapbooks purchased from Edwin Morgan in 1981, with financial assistance from the Scottish Arts Council. Subsequent accessions were donated to the Library by Edwin Morgan; after his death, some further material was transferred by his executors.
