Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Pembrokeshire Local History Society was formed in 1950 under the auspices of the Pembrokeshire Community Council (from 1974 Dyfed Rural Council). The Society published a journal, 'Pembrokeshire Historian', and became completely autonomous in 1981, but in September 1983 it merged with the Pembrokeshire Record Society to form the Pembroekshire Local History and Record Society, re-named Pembrokeshire Historical Society. In the 1970s, the Society promoted the publication of a History of the County of Pembroke, although the first volume of the Pembrokeshire County History did not appear until 1987.
